Awards Selected for Grant Funding - LSDF 2009 Project Grant Competition

LSDF proudly announces awardees for the 2009 Project grant competition. The funded studies will focus on promoting bone healing; optimizing limb amputation procedures; enhancing cancer treatment; facilitating the validation of biomarkers; generating a wheat variety that is safe for individuals with celiac disease; and developing novel cancer chemotherapeutics. Funding for these grants comes from Washington's allocation of bonus payments under the Master Tobacco Settlement, revenues arising from multi-state litigation with tobacco product manufacturers. This LSDF group of awardees is the fifth to be funded through the tobacco settlement mechanism.
